Case Study 2 – Fortune 500 Manufacturer IT Organization Restructuring

A Fortune 500 manufacturer that quickly retooled its decentralized administrative and IT services into a centralized structure with minimal loss of productivity.

The challenge:

Our client recognized a need to stay globally competitive and provide value for its stakeholders by reorganizing its workforce, business, and plant processes to reduce business costs and increase efficiency. A Business Service Center was created to support this effort. The client needed to train 3,000 employees on the new structure over a 60-day time period.

The solution:

Five Star provided the following components for this initiative:

  • A web-based Readiness Presentation that oriented employees to the new organization
  • 10 hours of self-paced, web-based training that presented the business, plant, and other process changes as they were rolled out
  • A Business Simulation Training program to orient specific work groups to critical new work processes and responsibilities
  • Performance Support tools, such as job aids, posters, process maps, and quick reference guides
  • A Communications Plan to share critical information with key audiences to ensure its successful rollout
  • ReadiPulse™ organizational change diagnostics
  • Access to Five Star’s PerformancePort™ learner registration and tracking portal

Results:

The client successfully trained 3,000 employees over a 45-day time period and experienced the highest training participation without prompting in company history. Surveys conducted with the initial rollout teams reported significantly higher understanding and commitment to the initiative compared to previous rollouts. The executive team believes the transitional productivity dip was reduced.
