Five Star has received industry recognition and numerous awards for the quality and results of our work, and for our commitment to the community. Below are some awards and recognitions we recently received.
- 2009 Best Places to Work in Western Pennsylvania
Five Star was recently named as one of the best places to work in western Pennsylvania by the Pittsburgh Business Times, who survey employees across the region to determine the recipients of this award.
- 2008, 2009 INC. Magazine’s INC. 5000 List
Inc. Magazine recently ranked Five Star as one of the top 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the United States. Five Star’s ranking is based on our revenue growth over a three-year period beginning in 2004. “The Inc. 5000 gives an unrivalled portrait of young, underreported companies across all industries doing fascinating things with cutting-edge business models, as well as older companies that are still showing impressive growth,” said Inc. 5000 Project Manager, Jim Melloan.
- 2008 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania
Five Star was recently named as one of the top 100 best workplaces in Pennsylvania. The program is a public/private partnership of Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and the Central Penn Business Journal. Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. Nearly 45,000 Pennsylvania employees filled out the survey.
- 2007 Pittsburgh Best Places to Work – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette published an annual list of the best places to work in Pittsburgh. Using employee input from surveys, they rank order organizations across the region that provide great work environments for employees. Five Star was ranked in the top 50 small companies.
- 2007 People Do Matter Awards – Finalist
The Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (PHRA) hosts an annual awards ceremony to acknowledge organizations that implement creative or innovative processes to attract, retain, or develop employees. The People Do Matter Awards acknowledges employers in three areas: People, Learning and Development, and Work Structures and Processes. In 2007, Five Star was a finalist in the Work Structure and Processes area for its internal culture improvement program that was designed to facilitate change, improve productivity, and create value in the marketplace.
- 2007 Pyramid Builder Supplier Award for Service/Business Alignment – Heinz North America
Five Star was recently awarded this prestigious distinction, which recognizes our total score on the Heinz Supplier Pyramid scorecard. Only 20 of Heinz’s 10,000 vendors were recognized with a 2007 Pyramid Builder Award, which measures innovation, service, cost, quality, business alignment, and cash (payment terms).
- 2006 Excellence in Practice Citation – American Society for Training and Development
In conjunction with American Eagle Outfitters Five Star was awarded an Excellence in Practice Citation in the 2006 International Excellence in Workplace Learning and Performance award from the American Society of Training and Development. The award recognized American Eagle’s Emerging Leaders leadership and culture improvement program.
- 2003 Inner City 100 – Inc. Magazine
Five Star was ranked by Inc. Magazine as the 49th fastest-growing private company in the United States headquartered in an inner-city location. The award was based on Five Star’s 352 percent revenue growth over a five-year period, beginning in 1997. The Inner City 100 competition, which saw 5,000 entries, is a joint venture between the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City and Inc. Magazine.
- 2007, 2006, 2004, 2002, 2001 – Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies in Western Pennsylvania – Pittsburgh Business Times
Five Star was ranked on the Pittsburgh Business Times Top 100, which recognizes revenue growth over the prior three-year period.
