As an Iron Sponsor for Steel City Codefest, fivestar* continues to rally behind the notion that, when it comes to technology, even a little bit of support can go a long way. During the week-long coding spree, top software developers and designers in the Pittsburgh region convene to create meaningful software applications that bring efficiencies to local government, citizens, and community organizations. Now on its fifth year, nearly 100 participants are expected to come together to create applications that serve important community and organizational needs.
Teams can choose to develop applications that address a variety of process challenges posed by organizations such as the Allegheny Children's Initiative, Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, Homewood Children's Village, involveMINT, The Allegheny County Department of Human Services, and The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership & City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works.
“Helping organizations advance their mission is at the core of fivestar* values,” said Lou Camerlengo, fivestar* president and cofounder. “Steel City Codefest is a way for us to make an impact with some amazing organizations right here in our own community.”

This is fivestar*’s third year with Steel City Codefest. GoodWorks — an intake solution that provides human service organizations with a system for client triage, intake and referral — originated as a design concept at Codefest 2015. GoodWorks later went on to a finalist standing position at BNYMellon UpPrize.org competition, and is a featured success story for the event.
