CASE STUDY

Updating a mission-critical education recruiting tool to meet the demands of today’s dynamic hiring environment.

The Challenge

A regional public education agency that provides a wide array of educational services manages an online website that puts tools and resources in the hands of stakeholders to better communicate jobs, job requirements, and available resources in the community. The site also helps employers connect with the right applicants through an up-front verification process. The website was first created by fivestar* in 2000 and since its launch has been maintained with a combination of internal client and fivestar* resources. Managing the site has become difficult due to outdated technology. The client has also developed a list of needed improvements to streamline processes and build a robust analytical component.

We are 100% certain we made the right choice with fivestar. This project will be impactful for our organization and the ones we serve, and we could not have done it without you.

The Solution

The project began with an in-depth Discovery phase with key client stakeholders resulting in detailed project requirements, user-experience workflows, key features, functionality, and a prioritization of work for the development process.  The redesign focused on an updated user experience incorporating mobile/responsive design, with new features and functionality that puts contextual job search and job recommendations at the fingertips of prospective candidates and tools and resources within easy reach for districts and administrators to post and manage job postings and connect with qualified applicants that best match their job requirements.fivestar* also worked with the client’s IT team to map, migrate, and optimize all legacy data to the new database architecture/platform.The site is Section 508 WCAG 2.0 AA compliant and meets the accessibility standards as defined by the client’s compliance governing body.  Browser-based accessibility testing plug-ins/extensions were used to monitor adherence to standards throughout the development process.
